The First Date Mary Lou's friend and co-worker at Blocks, Marie Whitlow, asked her to double-date with her and her boyfriend and his friend. Mary Lou accepted and then had second thoughts. Her mother, Bertha, told her that she should keep her word and go, so she did. They went to Raceway Park and watched Jim and Marie's boyfriend play softball and then they had a picnic. After that, Jim helped her work a crossword puzzle, (photo above) which she always loved to do. A few days later he drove to her house on North Delaware and asked her if she would like to drive his new car. She loved that and enjoyed his easy-going attitude and they began dating, fell in love and married. Jim and Mary Lou, at the house where she grew up on N.
