He is the son of James Zapp, grandson of Graham Zapp great-grandson of Nicholas Zapp and great-great-grandson of Peter Zapp. These are known as "scratch jugs". He explains: There are Zapp's milk bottles from New Albany and also a Zapp's grocery in Louisville KY. that sold whiskey and wine in stoneware jugs which I have several of.
